Plain-English summary: We collect only the information you knowingly give us — through our contact form, job applications or newsletter sign-up. We use it only to respond to you or deliver the service you requested. We never sell your data. Ever.
01 Who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to Axxellance ("Axxellance", "the studio", "we", "us" or "our"), a digital design and development studio founded and operated by Chukwuemeka Stephen Michael, based in Nigeria.
Axxellance operates the website at axxellance.com (the "Site") and any related communications channels. As the operator of this Site, Axxellance acts as the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Questions about this policy? See Section 13.
02 Data we collect
We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you visit the Site.
Information you give us directly:
- Contact form — name, email address, company name, budget range, service interests and project description.
- Job applications — name, email address, portfolio URL, location, LinkedIn profile URL, cover answer and availability.
- Newsletter sign-up — email address only.
- Direct email — any information you choose to include in an email you send to us.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, referring URL, browser type, device type and operating system. Collected via analytics (see Section 9).
- Cookies and local storage — small files stored on your device for site functionality. See our Cookie Policy for full detail.
- IP address — logged briefly by our hosting infrastructure for security and abuse prevention, then discarded.
We do not collect sensitive personal data (health information, financial account details, government ID numbers, etc.) and we do not ask you to provide any.
03 How we use your data
We use your personal information strictly for the purposes for which it was collected:
- To respond to your enquiry — if you fill in the contact form, we use your details to reply to you and discuss your project.
- To process job applications — we use application data to review your candidacy, communicate with you and make a hiring decision.
- To send the newsletter — if you subscribe, we send you periodic emails with new journal posts and studio updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To improve the Site — aggregate, anonymised analytics data helps us understand what content is useful and where the Site experience can be better.
- To meet legal obligations — we may retain certain records as required by applicable law.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making, profiling, or targeted advertising of any kind.
04 Legal basis for processing
Where data protection laws require us to identify a lawful basis for processing your personal data, we rely on the following:
- Legitimate interests — for processing contact form enquiries and improving the Site (our interest in operating a functional business does not override your rights).
- Contract performance — where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (e.g. discussing a project brief).
- Consent — for newsletter subscriptions. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting us directly.
- Legal obligation — where we are required by law to retain or disclose information.
06 Data retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected:
- Contact enquiries — retained for up to 24 months from the date of last communication, then deleted.
- Unsuccessful job applications — retained for 6 months after the application is closed, then deleted. (We may ask your permission to keep your details on file longer.)
- Newsletter subscribers — retained until you unsubscribe, after which your email is deleted within 30 days.
- Server logs — retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, then purged automatically.
You can request early deletion of your data at any time — see Section 7.
07 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal data:
- Right of access — you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to stop actively using your data while a dispute is resolved.
- Right to data portability — you can ask us to provide your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — you can object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at legal@axxellance.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge a fee for reasonable requests.
